Eye of storm mundane ark

A [ORDINARY OBJECT] as desperate refuge, tiny [human beings] huddled inside while catastrophic weather rages outside. The storm visible through gaps: flood waters rising, or toxic clouds swirling, or fire approaching. Makeshift barriers installed in openings. Rationing supplies visible. Frightened faces lit by emergency lighting. Some spaces leak, others hold. The group must decide whether to stay or run. The object never designed for this but it's all they have. Dramatic storm lighting, claustrophobic interior, the mundane as ark.
